U.S. national debt about to reach bleak $40 trillion milestone — and it’s likely hit $50 trillion soon

The U.S. national debt was projected to reach 40 trillion dollars by 2029, according to Michael Hartnett, Bank of America's chief equity strategist. Hartnett said the projection was influencing investment preferences toward stocks over bonds.
