Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, won a by-election in Clacton-on-Sea on July 4, 2024, receiving 21,225 votes. The by-election was triggered by former Conservative MP Giles Watling's resignation. Farage received a higher vote share than in the 2024 general election, when he secured 8,860 votes in the same constituency. The seat was previously held by the Conservative Party.
