People Are ‘Marrying’ Chatbots. These Lawmakers Want to Stop Them

Several U.S. states are considering legislation to prohibit legal recognition of marriages between humans and artificial intelligence systems, according to Republican state lawmakers. Human-AI marriages are not currently recognized under U.S. law. The proposed bills would formalize the exclusion of such unions from legal marriage status.
