Scammers are using data brokers and people-search websites to create personalized phishing attacks at doctor's offices that target Medicare numbers through QR codes. The attacks use publicly available personal information to make fraudulent communications appear legitimate to victims. Medicare fraud through compromised account numbers can result in unauthorized charges billed to beneficiaries' accounts and insurance claims.
