Meta adds AI screening to detect WhatsApp scams

Meta is adding an optional Scam Alert feature to WhatsApp that uses machine learning to identify suspicious messages. The feature operates on users' devices and is rolling out in limited beta. Meta previously introduced scam detection for device linking requests on WhatsApp earlier in 2026.
