America wasn't 'really founded' until 1965, MS NOW guest historian argues ahead of 250th birthday

Presidential historian Jon Meacham stated on MSNBC that America did not become a multiracial, multiethnic democracy until 1965. Meacham made the comment ahead of the nation's 250th anniversary. The 1965 date marks the passage of the Voting Rights Act and the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.
