U.S. budget deficit surged in July to highest level since March 2021

The U.S. budget deficit reached its highest monthly level since March 2021 in July 2026. Through the first 10 months of fiscal 2026, the cumulative deficit totaled nearly 1.8 trillion dollars, exceeding the deficit for the same period in 2025.
