Unearthed interview reveals El-Sayed’s Sharia ‘obligation’: ‘Not because of fear’

The New York Times reported that El-Sayed addressed how Islamic financing principles applied to home loans. El-Sayed is a physician and former Michigan Department of Health director who announced his Senate candidacy in 2025.
