Inflation eases in July as gasoline and grocery prices fall

Consumer prices rose 3.4% in July compared to the same month last year, according to reported inflation data. This represents a decline from the annual increase recorded in May and June. The decline in the annual inflation rate may reduce pressure on the Federal Reserve to increase interest rates at its September meeting.
