Diesel sees biggest monthly fall in 26 years. What's happening to fuel prices?

Wednesday, July 1, 2026

Diesel prices fell 8.1 percent in November, the largest monthly decline since 1998, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Gasoline prices declined 4.3 percent in the same period. The price decreases follow a spike in fuel costs in early October after missile strikes between Israel and Iran. Crude oil prices have fallen since mid-October, with West Texas Intermediate crude dropping from around $90 per barrel in mid-October to approximately $71 per barrel by late November.
