DSA co-chair pushes back on Soviet Union comparisons, wants prisons to be 'less necessary'

DSA co-chair Ashik Siddique said the democratic socialism movement is distinct from the Soviet Union model. Siddique stated the organization supports worker protections and representation in the workplace. He also expressed support for reducing the prison population, saying prisons should become "less necessary" through other social changes. The DSA has approximately 95,000 members according to the organization's website.
