Police chiefs call for PM to prevent early release of PC Harper's killers

Police chiefs have called on the Prime Minister to prevent the early release of the officers convicted in the death of PC Andrew Harper. Andy Burnham, Manchester mayor and former health secretary, said he was "confident" the early release could be prevented. PC Harper was killed in 2019 during a traffic stop in Berkshire. The officers' early release eligibility was set to occur under standard sentencing guidelines before recent changes to release policy were announced.
