Three ways to watch safely without glasses

Several household items can be used to safely view an eclipse without commercially produced eclipse glasses, according to safety guidance. These alternatives include a colander, kitchen strainer, or perforated spoon held at arm's length to project pinhole images onto a surface below. A cardboard box with a small hole punched in one side and white paper inside can also project the eclipse image safely onto the paper.
