Alex Murdaugh lawyers allege ‘fabricated’ evidence was used to secure murder indictments

Alex Murdaugh's legal team filed court documents stating that lead investigator David Owen provided false testimony and altered evidence before the Colleton County grand jury that indicted Murdaugh on murder charges. The filing did not specify which evidence the attorneys claimed was fabricated or what false statements Owen allegedly made. Murdaugh was charged with murder in the deaths of his wife Maggie and son Paul in June 2021.
