Bumble now lets men make the first move

Tuesday, August 11, 2026

Bumble announced on Tuesday that it is changing its core messaging feature to allow any user to send the first message in heterosexual matches, moving away from its original policy that restricted first messages to women only since the app's 2014 launch. The dating app said the change applies globally across its platform. Bumble did not provide a specific date for when the feature would be fully rolled out to all users.
