A Dozen Ships Switch Oil Outside Hormuz as Barrels Keep Flowing

Tuesday, August 11, 2026

The transfers allow tankers to avoid transiting through the strait, where several attacks on commercial vessels have occurred. Approximately 21 million barrels of oil per day pass through the Strait of Hormuz, making it one of the world's most critical shipping routes.
