On June 10th, Asha Sharma, Xbox's CEO, and Matt Booty, chief content officer, sent a memo to Xbox staff announcing an "Xbox reset" in response to business challenges including a 3 percent accountability margin. The memo preceded layoffs and studio closures at Microsoft's gaming division. Sharma took the role as CEO several months before the announcement, and Booty was newly promoted to chief content officer at the time.
