A.I. Agents Are Taking Entire Online Courses for Cheating Students
Monday, August 10, 2026
Artificial intelligence systems have been used to complete online coursework for students, according to reports from educational institutions. Colleges have documented instances where AI agents submitted assignments, took exams, and completed entire courses on behalf of students enrolled in online programs. Universities including Arizona State University and the University of Florida reported detecting such activity during the 2024-2025 academic year. Some institutions have responded by implementing proctoring software, requiring in-person exam components, or modifying course structures to reduce AI completion methods.
