Why a murder trial is beginning nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur’s death

Monday, August 10, 2026

Duane "Keffe D" Davis, a former gang leader, was arrested and charged in connection with the 1996 death of rapper Tupac Shakur. Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. Davis provided information to law enforcement that led to his arrest in 2023. No one had been arrested in the case for nearly 30 years before Davis's charges were filed.
