Sony will stop making physical copies of PlayStation games in 2028
Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Sony announced it will discontinue manufacturing physical copies of PlayStation games by 2028. The company did not provide additional details about the transition timeline or how it will affect existing physical game libraries. Sony currently offers games through its digital PlayStation Store platform. The shift means new PlayStation releases after 2028 will be available only through digital distribution.
