Iran, Holding Firm to Hormuz, Pushes for Return to June MOU

Iran has stated that control of the Strait of Hormuz is its primary leverage in negotiations with the United States over frozen assets, sanctions relief, and naval operations. Iran has called for a return to a June memorandum of understanding as a basis for talks. The strait, through which approximately one-third of globally traded oil passes, connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman.
