US Loses 23,000 Jobs in July, Unemployment Rate Falls

US employers cut 23,000 jobs in July, falling below the projected gain of 80,000 jobs. Hiring totals for May and June were revised downward. The unemployment rate declined to 4.1% from 4.2% in the prior month.
