Iran Wants to Bar US, Israeli Ships From Hormuz in Deal

Iran proposed conditions in discussions with Oman that would bar US and Israeli vessels from transiting the Strait of Hormuz and require compensation from what Iran defines as hostile countries before granting passage, according to local media reports. Bloomberg reported the conditions were part of a proposed agreement between Iran and Oman. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway through which approximately one-third of global maritime oil trade passes.
