Fauci Is Far From the First Person to Plead the Fifth Before Congress

The Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination has been invoked by witnesses during congressional hearings on multiple occasions. Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked the right during a 2024 House hearing on the origins of COVID-19. Other individuals who have invoked the Fifth before Congress include former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, and various witnesses in investigations spanning decades.
