Squad-backed ‘Tennessee Three’ lawmaker wins House primary in newly redrawn district

Justin Pearson won the Democratic primary in Tennessee's 9th Congressional District on August 1, 2024, following redistricting that altered the Memphis-area district's boundaries. Pearson, a state representative, was one of three Democratic lawmakers expelled from the Tennessee House in 2023 after entering the House chamber during a proceeding. The redistricting created a new configuration of the district that Pearson represents in his primary victory.
