Parasitic zombie-ant fungus thrives in mosses, too

A fungus that infects ants and alters their behavior also grows in mosses, according to researchers studying the organism. The discovery suggests the fungus can survive in mosses when ant hosts are scarce, and may explain why infected ants seek out moss-covered areas before dying.
