Loophole forcing release of detained illegal immigrants targeted by Senate GOP

Sen. Katie Britt introduced legislation addressing a 1992 Supreme Court ruling that allows detained immigrants to be released if the government does not obtain travel documents within six months. The ruling stemmed from a case involving immigrants from Cuba and Haiti. Britt's bill would modify the conditions under which detained immigrants can be released.
