US Initial Jobless Claims Below 200,000 for Third Straight Week

Applications for US unemployment benefits totaled 199,000 in the week ended August 1, according to Labor Department data released Thursday. Claims have remained below 200,000 for three consecutive weeks. The four-week moving average declined to its lowest level since September 2022.
