Nintendo beats earnings thanks to US tariff refunds it won’t share with gamers

Nintendo reported operating profits of 142.5 billion yen (approximately $902 million) for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, covering April 1 through June 30, according to the company's financial results. The earnings exceeded the company's estimates and were driven by strong video game sales and US tariff refunds received during the period. Nintendo did not indicate plans to pass tariff refund amounts to consumers through price reductions or other means.
