Pakistan's ruling party leads in Kashmir vote despite boycott call by banned group

Candidates backed by Pakistan Muslim League-N, the party of twice-elected former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, won 24 of 34 seats in the first two phases of voting in Kashmir, according to the election commission statement on Wednesday. A banned group had called for a boycott of the election. The voting took place across multiple phases in the disputed territory.
