Republican who reportedly dropped out defeats Trump's pick in key swing-district primary

Amir Hassan won the Republican primary in Michigan's 8th Congressional District on Tuesday and will face incumbent Rep. Kristen McDonald-Rivet, a Democrat, in the general election. Hassan was endorsed by former President Donald Trump. The district is considered competitive in the 2026 midterm elections.
