GM, Chinese automaker extend joint venture for 20 years despite geopolitical tensions with U.S.

General Motors and Chinese automaker SAIC extended their joint venture agreement for 20 years, with operations continuing to focus on domestic sales of Buick and Cadillac models in China and exporting Chevrolet products manufactured in China to non-U.S. markets. The agreement was finalized as GM maintains its manufacturing presence in China through the partnership. SAIC is majority-owned by the Shanghai municipal government.
