Michigan’s top election official wins Democratic primary for governor, advances to battleground race

Jocelyn Benson, Michigan's secretary of state, won the Democratic gubernatorial primary on Election Day, defeating Chris Swanson, a state senator. Benson will face the Republican primary winner in the general election this fall. John James and Perry Johnson are the Republican candidates competing in their party's primary.
