Spotify expands AI remix and covers project with Merlin partnership

Spotify announced a partnership with Merlin, a rights organization representing more than 30,000 independent labels and distributors, to support its AI remix and covers product. The tool will allow users to create AI-generated covers and remixes of music from participating artists who have opted in to the feature. Artists whose music is used will receive credit and compensation, according to Spotify. Universal Music Group previously backed the product.
