Oil prices fall on hopes Strait of Hormuz could reopen

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that talks had progressed toward allowing shipments to resume through the Strait of Hormuz. The announcement followed a decline in oil prices. Through the Strait of Hormuz, approximately one-third of globally traded oil passes annually.
