Illegal immigrant suspect charged in crash that killed police officer and his girlfriend

Melissa Esperanza Ramirez Romero was charged with vehicular manslaughter and DUI in connection with a crash in Danbury that killed a police officer and his girlfriend. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer against Romero. The detainer is a request to local law enforcement to hold an individual for pickup by ICE.
