Russia's invasion of Ukraine has disrupted prenatal and maternal health services across the country. Pregnant women have reported difficulty accessing regular medical care due to damage to hospitals, power outages, and displacement from their homes. The Ukrainian health ministry reported in 2024 that maternal mortality rates increased in regions affected by active combat. Despite these conditions, obstetric services continued operating in some areas, with medical staff providing care under wartime constraints.
