Cleared by the US, derailed by the UK: Getty’s Shutterstock merger falls apart

Getty Images announced it is terminating its $3.7 billion merger agreement with Shutterstock after the UK Competition and Markets Authority imposed conditions that would have prevented Shutterstock's AI training business from being included in the combined company. The US Department of Justice cleared the deal unconditionally in February. Getty disclosed the decision in an SEC filing on Tuesday.
