As Americans go direct with GLP-1 prescriptions, Walmart, Costco, Amazon will be big weight-loss winners

Walmart, Costco, and Amazon have expanded their pharmacy services to offer GLP-1 medications including semaglutide and tirzepatide, according to announcements from each company in 2025 and 2026. The medications are prescribed for weight loss and diabetes management. Retail pharmacies filling these prescriptions directly to consumers compete with specialized telehealth providers and compounding pharmacies that have dominated the GLP-1 market.
