South Africa Plans to Tap Existing Rand Sukuk Bonds This Year

South Africa's National Treasury announced plans to issue additional rand-denominated sukuk bonds in the current fiscal year by tapping into existing bond lines. Sukuk are Islamic-compliant fixed-income securities. The announcement was made as part of the country's broader debt management strategy. South Africa has issued rand sukuk bonds since 2014.
