New York nuns will not be forced to comply with assisted-suicide law while case progresses

A federal judge issued an order blocking enforcement of New York's assisted-suicide law against Catholic nuns who filed a lawsuit challenging the requirement. The nuns argued the law compels them to recommend assisted suicide to terminally ill patients in violation of their religious beliefs. The order remains in effect while the case proceeds through the courts.
