Friday, July 31, 2026
Valerie Kloosterman, a physician assistant at a Michigan hospital, received a $410,000 settlement after being fired three weeks following her request for a religious accommodation from mandatory gender identity training. The hospital had required all staff to complete the training as part of its policies. Kloosterman filed a lawsuit claiming the termination violated her rights to religious accommodation under federal employment law.
