Melat Kiros defeated Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado's Democratic primary on June 25, 2024. Kiros was endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America. DeGette had represented Colorado's 1st Congressional District since 1997. The primary outcome was decided by voters in the Democratic primary election.
