Melat Kiros, a Left-Wing Insurgent, Ousts a 15-Term Congresswoman in Colorado

Melat Kiros, 29, won the Democratic primary for Colorado's 1st Congressional District on Tuesday, defeating incumbent Representative Diana DeGette, who had held the seat for 15 terms. Kiros will advance to the general election to represent the Denver area. DeGette had served in Congress since 1997.
