Singapore Retrenchments Hit Highest Level Since the Pandemic

Singapore recorded 2,230 retrenchments in the fourth quarter of 2025, the highest quarterly figure since the COVID-19 pandemic began, according to data from the Ministry of Manpower. The increase was driven by restructuring in sectors with significant overseas exposure. The previous pandemic-era peak was 2,170 retrenchments in the second quarter of 2020.
