Hundreds of migrants swam across the strait separating Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. Juan Vivas, president of Ceuta's autonomous city government, stated that the influx is overwhelming local resources and called on the Spanish government to intervene. The Spanish enclave lies on the North African coast approximately 8.5 miles from Morocco.
