LSEG CEO Wants UK Stamp Duty on Shares to 'Go Away'

Thursday, July 30, 2026

London Stock Exchange Group raised its full-year earnings guidance after reporting its strongest first half since acquiring Refinitiv, citing growing demand for its AI-powered data products. CEO David Schwimmer said he would "love to see" the UK's stamp duty on share purchases removed, stating it is "the wrong incentive structure" for trading and listings. Schwimmer also said the UK underinvests its own pension capital in domestic markets and sees "signs of receptivity" to reforms aimed at increasing investment.
