Zac Brown Band's John Driskell Hopkins says he's 'chasing the clock' after ALS diagnosis

John Driskell Hopkins, bassist for Zac Brown Band, said in 2026 that he is "chasing the clock" following his 2021 diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Hopkins has continued touring with the band while making plans for 2027. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
