Salman Rushdie attacker convicted of terror offenses

Hadi Matar, 28, was convicted of attempting to provide material support to Hezbollah in connection with an attack on author Salman Rushdie. The attack occurred in August 2022 at an event in western New York. Matar was charged with second-degree attempted murder and assault following the stabbing. The conviction included federal terror-related offenses.
