Catherine Beth Washburn of New York was charged by the Department of Justice with sending over $30,000 in cryptocurrency to a Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighter and leading a group, according to court filings. Palestinian Islamic Jihad is designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department. Washburn was arrested after federal investigators reviewed her online communications and financial records. The case was unsealed in federal court on a date specified in the charging documents.
